Major European Yards Embarking on Data Integration

European shipbuilders are launching a new initiative to develop and demonstrate a connected vessel platform under a project named Code Kilo.
The project is undertaken by EUROYARDS members Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Damen Shipyards Group, Fincantieri, Lürssen, Meyer Werft, Naval Group and Navantia.
An overarching aim is to harmonize data management solutions and standards in order to meet the digitization challenges.

The LNG era takes shape

he LNG era takes shape is a special report from DNV GL’s research on the outlook for the oil and gas industry in 2019. Based on surveys of nearly 800 senior oil and gas professionals, and nearly 300 LNG industry players, the report reveals the implications of the world’s rapidly growing appetite for LNG, the diversification of LNG supply and demand sources, and new dynamics at play in global gas markets.

Survey by Remote Inspection Techniques - Use of Approved Service Suppliers

The use of remote inspection techniques (RIT) is increasing. Today, drones, climbers, or robot arms, can be used as an alternative to close-up surveys in both the DNV GL rules and IACS Unified Requirements. RIT may significantly reduce the survey time and costs, while improving the safety of surveyors and the owner’s personnel. From 1 January 2019, DNV GL has approved the use of service suppliers for RIT. This technical news explains how RIT can be used and how suppliers can achieve DNV GL approval.

Damen Cruise inks first contract with SeaDream Yacht Club

Damen Shipyards Group is proud to announce the recent signing of a contract with Oslo,
Norway-based SeaDream Yacht Club. The contract marks a historic moment, being Damen’s first
for a cruise ship. SeaDream will operate the 155-metre Mega Yacht on luxury voyages all over the

Homeland Integrated Offshore Services of Nigeria Adds to its fleet of Damen 3307 Patrol Vessels

Damen Shipyards Group and Homeland Integrated Offshore Services of Lagos have signed a contract in Singapore for the delivery of two additional Damen 3307 Patrol Vessels. This further increases the total number of these vessels in the Homeland fleet with the first ordered in 2014 and the most recent deliveries being three vessels over the course of 2018.
